About Me

Robert Egnacheski - Richard Caliguiri AwardOn my never-ending quest for knowledge, I have gained many acknowledgements during my studies. Graduating from Pittsburgh Technical Institute with a Specialized Mutlimedia Associate Degree, I was also awarded the January 2005 Richard S. Caliguiri Renaissance Award of my graduating class (awarded for the excellence in leadership and perseverance). I also acquired the Brainbench.com Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Certification.

Richard S. Caliguiri (October 20, 1931 - May 6, 1988) was the mayor of Pittsburgh from January 2, 1978 - May 6, 1988 and was succeeded by Sophie Masloff. Caliguiri's leadership helped Pittsburgh begin its "Renaissance II" plan, an urban renewal and revitalization plan. This was based on David L. Lawrence orignal Renaissance plan for Pittsburgh. In the 1980's Caliguiri was diagnosed with amyloidosis, a rare and serious protein disorder, but continued in office. In October 1990, a commemorative statue of Caliguiri sculpted by Robert Berks was dedicated on the steps of the Downtown Pittsburgh City-County Building on Grant Street.

I enjoy creating patterns and vector presets for Adobe Photoshop, iPhone / iPod Touch webApps and Widgets, as well as creating icon and desktop sets. I also enjoy photography, BMX-ing, video games, my dogs and playing drums, guitar and bass. I hope to create a video game for a major video game console someday. I have been making Flash games and applications over the years, creating variables and objects much like I see in real commercial games, but on a level comparable to the games of a 2D world.

Lately, I have been looking into iPhone development, CSS 3, as well as HTML 5. I look forward to see how the web, television, movies, video games, basically, media in general, change over the next few years. Right now there are about 7 different types of cables going into my tv, and who knows how many different cables between all of my computer and av equipment. Hopefully, everything will convert to wireless but also be reliable in the future?
